Noom: Healthy Weight Loss App Reviews

Quite good

But there are so many locked functions

New design

Am I the only one who haaaates the new design? It looks like an old Atari game.

The Best (Update)

I dont write many reviews for apps, but I feel obligated to give Noom a great review. I have worked out for many years and had hit a ceiling with weight loss. Noom made me rethink my eating habits and helped me lose 20lbs of stubborn body fat. I will never think of food the same way again. Thanks Noom! *Update* The new version still does all of the great things that the old version of the app did. However, the new UI is uglier and there are some weird UX problems. Logging meals is different, the font feels out of place on iOS, and the illustrations are kind weird :/ Nothing worth ditching the app for, but I definitely miss the old version.

Works Well But Crashing

The app works very well and its super helpful, however as of a few minutes ago it keeps crashing and I cannot open it. This ticks me off a lot and I appreciate if it doesnt do that.

worst

New UI is awful.

Missing the color chart

Where did the color chart showing the percentage of green, yellow and red foods consumed throughout my day? I loved challenging myself to get the green and yellow higher. That has worked better than anything else for me. I went away from tracking my food for a while and I am about to start up again and this feature missing is not good.

I didnt like this app, and deleted it shortly after I bought it. Unfortunately, I didnt read that it automatically renews!! I dont know who to contact about stopping it either, so now I am paying for 2 years I didnt use, and if I dont figure it out I would guess they will pull money again next year through my iTunes account!

Boo to the new look

Kept crashing... Interface looks sloppy. Deleted.

New UI is ugly and buggy

Since the update, the Home screen is about as boring as it could possibly be, and also no longer shows by how much I exceeded my daily calorie count whenever I go over. The screenshots on the App Store still show this info with the new UI, but the app itself does not. Didnt anyone test this before releasing it? Did any designers take a look? Ugh. Im finally deleting this after using it for over a year - including paying up for a subscription to get access to Groups (kind of useless - out of sight and out of mind in the app, so people really dont participate) and access to the articles (which repeat frequently - I have to say "Ive read this" to the same article every few weeks") and surveys (also repetitive, and include some bugs which mean you cant always complete them). Now that my Pro subscription has expired and Im left with a lot of nagging reminders to sign up for it again, its time to delete it and find something better!

I used to love it

I got this app a few years ago, and I loved it. I lost 50 pounds. Now Im postpartum and wanted to give it a try and I am so disappointed. It wont count my steps, and I cant work out/ time/ hear music like back then. This is really bad instead of making it better it is a very low quality now

It was fine

But when I tried to record my meal down the app just shut it self down

Great app but...

...there shouldnt be so many pop-ups asking you to pay for the pro version. We understand theres a pro version available, but having a card pop-up when you log most meals, requiring extra taps, is a bit much. That said, great and helpful app with a clean UI.

Daily user

The best weight loss app Ive used. New look is ugly, generic, and less inviting. The top of the page doesnt always show up.

Weight gaining option request

I like noom coach and Ive used it to lose a little bit of weight before. But after few months later, I wanted to gain weight because somehow I kind of lost too much. So I tried to set my goal weight higher but noom coach only suggests how to lose weight. like "how to lose quicker" even though I set my goal weight higher. It would be nice if there is an option of "how to gain weight".

Newbie

Trying to use food log but more confusing than other programs. Trying to change portion sizes. Not sure I like it. Already blocked renewal for next month. Seems time consuming.

Still useful, but used to be better...

Noom used to be a pretty solid app and I used it every day. Now its sluggish and slow on my 4s (unlike before) and I really miss the "best food of the day" feedback it used to give. Also, now its virtually impossible to reference the things youve eaten throughout the day at a quick glance - too many taps required just to see this data now. Kinda lame. Only thing thats readily available is calorie count for each meal. Useful, but not the only piece of data I want to frequently reference. What still sets NOOM apart from its competition is its slick database and how it allows very easy unit choices to add calories and meals - thats its strongest suite. Update: Feb 21, 2016 My previous feedback still applies to this current update sadly, but there are a few visual improvements in order to see your calories for the day such as the counter bar at the top that now shows your number. Id still like to see more color coding for particular foods consumed and it would be amazing if there was a way to add your current calorie # to the apps icon itself. That way you dont even need to open the app to check in and see how much you have left before the day ends. Dunno if thats possible but it would be a great feature.

Noom coach

Helped me loose weight In time for summer vacation. great app

I miss the old version

Barcode scanner doesnt work. After spending 30 mins manually inputting my food the app didnt even post any of it. I was asked about sodium amount when inputting my food but I cant track sodium consumption. The old app had a pie chart that showed you how you were doing in regards to red, yellow, and green foods. Been using the free version for 3 years. I have walked away from the app because food tracking shouldnt take forever.

Red foods?

I like everything except the red foods green foods. Apparently a kale smoothie is a red food but if i add the ingredients instead of the food item they are all green and yellow...

Awesome design & it works!

I started using Noom last year and I have lost almost 30 pounds. The app is beautiful and easy to use. There is lots of encouraging feedback and some interesting articles. Love it!
